As heard on worldwide.fm; Mopo – Tökkö. The sound is vaguely reminiscent of Morphine due to the instrumentation no doubt, but this Finnish trio is more into jazz (their bio states; “The band draws their inspiration from jazz, punk and the Finnish nature”), but they rock big time nonetheless!
What starts out as a somewhat Buckley-esque guitar & voice dreamscape evolves into a modern broken beat inspired song. The whole is quite intense and somber and has me listening to it on repeat for the last hour or so. And now it’s your turn!
Ever since I saw Magnolia I’ve been a fan of Aimee Mann. Not that I know all her songs, not that I listen to her music that regularly, but every time I do I regret having waited that long.
Anyway, she’s still going strong with high-quality songwriting about the not-so-pleasant aspects of life. This is her in the KEXP studios in July 2017, enjoy!

Comment ça va ? Cossi Annatz in french occitan means “How are you doing ?” I’m doing well when I listen to this beautiful free/spiritual jazz album recorded and produced by Michel Marre in the South of France and released on Vendémiaire (Jef Gilson’s label) with a similar style to Francois Tusques Intercommunal. Jazz Afro-occitan is written on the cover and it’s clearly the case when you put the needle on wax you instantly feel the North African, Arabic & Mediterranean influences, that are quite obvious here, especially in the brass & percussions. Some brilliant tracks like the beautiful deep jazz Al Coltrane or the monster spiritual oriental jazz Aden Arabie with great Fender solo.

So our summer holiday in Scotland did not resemble below video (Mark Ronson feat. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala), but it was magnificent nonetheless 🙂

An epic 15 minutes of jazz from Kamasi Washington’s soul; “Truth”. I’ve been listening to this on repeat since I heard it yesterday evening on Lefto’s radioshow. So beautiful & moving, so rooted in the past and yet so fresh and timeless!
Already a couple of years old, but heard on KSCN yesterday, The Amazing (a Swedish band) playing “Flashlight”. Slightly psychedelic pop-rock with a touch of jazz. Lovely!
