Music from our Tube; Moderat, Rusty Nails
I have always enjoyed German electro, but where have I been the last 4 years to have missed this masterpiece by Moderat (i.e. Modeselektor + Apparat)? “Rusty Nails” is on continuous repeat in my head ever since hearing it in the Modeselektor Essential mix. Here it is in all of its splendor on YouTube;
According to Wikipedia Moderat have been working on new material to be released in July. Looking forward to that!
Music from our Tube; Jean Michel Jarre on TV in 1977
For a long time electronic music seems to have been considered as being a gimmick, a fad. Back in 1976 Jean Michel Jarre, one of the pioneers, recorded “Oxygène” and the next year he was in Holland to promote it “live” on TV;
I probably didn’t see this back then, but I did buy me some Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis in the early eighties. Then came New Wave & Front 242 and Art Of Noise and House and Techno and now electronic music is just music. Thanks for that Jean Michel!

Nivea Stress Protect? Nee dank U!
Music from Our Tube: Jeff Buckley, “What will you say”
Every now and again I rediscover the great musician that was Jeff Buckley. This great live version of “What will you say” maybe lacks the spontaneity an sheer fun of his solo-gigs, but it is … mesmerizing nonetheless.
Music from Our Tube: David Lemaitre, Megalomania
I loved Phoenix’s “Lisztomania” and “1901” a couple of years ago, but their latest “Entertainment” doesn’t really work for me. But Bolivian-born David Lemaitre seems to fill that void with “Megalomania” just fine;
